Introduction to IRCTC Ticket Booking
Booking railway tickets has never been easier, thanks to the IRCTC website. With just a few clicks, you can reserve your tickets, check train availability, and manage your bookings all in one place. This guide will walk you through the simple steps required to book your railway tickets online.
Steps to Book a Railway Ticket
To start your journey of booking railway tickets through the IRCTC website, follow these steps:
- Visit the IRCTC website: Open the browser on your device and type in the web address for the IRCTC official site.
- Create an Account: If you are a new user, you will need to register. Provide the required information and verify your email/phone number.
- Log In: Enter your credentials to log into your account. If you are a returning user, simply log in with Username, Password & Captcha.
- Search for Trains: Enter your departure and destination stations, along with your Journey date & choose the class (Sleeper, AC, etc.) to find available trains.
- Select Your Train: Check the availability & click on Book Now for your preferred train.
- Book Your Ticket: Proceed by entering passenger details, Fill in details like Name, Age, Gender, and Berth Preference. If you have a Senior Citizen, Child, or Divyangjan, select the respective options. Enter the mobile number to receive booking confirmation and making the payment.
- Make Payment : Select a payment method (Credit/Debit Card, UPI, Net Banking, Wallet, etc.) & Complete the payment.
- E–Ticket : After successful payment, your E-Ticket (Electronic Ticket) will be generated. You will receive an SMS and Email confirmation with ticket details.
Download E-Ticket
- Go to “My Bookings“ on IRCTC to download or print the ticket.
- You can also show the SMS or E-Ticket PDF to the ticket checker while traveling.
Notes
- Tatkal tickets open at 10 AM for AC Class and 11 AM for Sleeper Class one day before the journey.
- Use IRCTC Rail Connect App for mobile bookings.
- Keep your IRCTC login credentials and ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.) ready.
