Step 1: Sign In to YouTube
To begin the process of creating or changing your YouTube channel URL, first head over to youtube.com. Sign in using your Google account credentials. This step is essential as your custom URL settings will be linked to your YouTube account.
Step 2: Access Your Channel Settings & Customization Steps
- Once you are signed in, click on your profile picture, located at the top right corner of the page.
- This action will bring up a menu. Select “YouTube Studio” from the options.
- In the YouTube Studio, you can manage all aspects of your channel, including the customization of your URL.
- In the left-hand menu of YouTube Studio, navigate to the “Customization” section and then to the “Basic Info” tab.
- Here, you will be able to view your current channel handle, which looks like @yourchannelname.
- If you want to change your handle, click the edit icon (pencil) next to your current handle and enter a new one.
- YouTube will check the availability of the handle for you.
- After making changes, don’t forget to click “Publish” at the top right to save your modifications.
Changing Your Custom URL
- If you are eligible to change your custom URL, scroll down to find the section displaying your existing custom URL.
- You should see an option to remove or change it, provided your channel meets specific requirements such as having over 100 subscribers, being at least 30 days old, and having an uploaded profile picture and banner image.
- Choose a new URL that reflects your channel handle or a variation that YouTube allows, and confirm your change.
