How to Lock Aadhaar Biometrics Online using website
To lock your biometrics, first, visit the UIDAI’s official website. Follow these simple steps:
- Click on the ‘Lock/Unlock Biometrics’ option, located under the ‘My Aadhaar’ section and then ‘Aadhaar Services.’
- Enter your Aadhaar number along with the captcha code displayed on the screen.
- Press ‘Send OTP’ or opt for TOTP if you are using the mAadhaar app.
- Verify the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
- After successful verification, click ‘Enable Locking’ to secure your fingerprints, iris, and face authentication.
How to Unlock Aadhaar Biometrics using website
If you ever need to unlock your Aadhaar biometrics, the process is just as straightforward. Navigate back to the UIDAI website and follow these steps:
- Go to the ‘Lock/Unlock Biometrics’ section again.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code.

- Open mAadhaar app (Download from Play Store or App Store).
- Log in with mobile number & add Aadhaar card with OTP & Select “Biometric Settings”.
- Enable or Disable Biometric Lock & Unlock settings.
- Authenticate using OTP.
- Use Biometrics for 10 mins for finger print access.
