How to Recover Your UAN Password if Your Registered Mobile Number is Closed

Recovering your Universal Account Number (UAN) password can be a straightforward process, but it becomes intricate if your registered mobile number is inactive. Your UAN is pivotal for managing your employee provident fund and accessing other benefits. This comprehensive guide will elucidate the procedures to recover your UAN password without a functional mobile number.

Steps to Recover UAN Password

To recover your UAN password, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the UAN Member Portal: Go to the EPFO website and navigate to the UAN Member Portal.
  2. Select ‘Forgot Password’: Click on the ‘Forgot Password’ link to initiate the recovery process.
  3. Provide Required Details: Enter Your UAN & Captcha → Click on Submit.
  4. Choose Alternate Recovery Method: Since your registered mobile number is closed, If your old number is inactive, click on “No” when asked if you can receive OTP. You will see an option to update your new mobile number.
  5. Verify Identity : Enter your Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar, or PAN for verification. If the details match EPFO records, you can enter a new mobile number.
  6. Receive OTP on New Mobile → Enter OTP & Verify
  7. Reset UAN Password: Set a new password and confirm it. Use this new password to log in.

If you do not have access to the online method, you may need to visit your nearest EPFO office with valid identification to prove your UAN Number, Aadhar Card, Pan Card and Proof of Salary Slip Company ID Card etc for support in recovering your password.

If the online method doesn’t work, request your employer to update your new mobile number in EPFO records. Once updated, you can reset your password using the Forgot Password option.
