Step 1: Install Files by Google
If you haven’t installed the Files by Google app yet, start by downloading it from the Play Store. This application is essential for transferring files efficiently between devices.
Step 2: Open the App
Launch the Files by Google app on both devices involved in the transfer, whether it’s the sender’s or receiver’s device. Ensure both devices are within close proximity for optimal performance.
Step 3: Enable Nearby Share
To begin transferring files, you need to enable Nearby Share. In the app, tap on the share button located at the bottom. On the sender’s device, select ‘Send,’ while on the receiver’s device, choose ‘Receive.’
Step 4: Grant Necessary Permissions
Make sure to allow the necessary permissions such as location, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. These permissions are crucial for establishing a successful connection between the devices during the file transfer process.
Step 5: Connect Devices
The sender will then select the file(s) they wish to share. It’s important that the receiver’s device is visible and appears on the sender’s screen. Tap on the device name to establish the connection.
Step 6: Transfer the File
Once the devices are connected, the selected file will transfer quickly without the need for mobile data. After the transfer is completed, both users can tap ‘Done’ to finish the process.
